We're Empowering Tribes to Own Their Energy Future
Our Purpose
SGE exists to help tribal nations achieve energy sovereignty—true independence over how power is generated, distributed, and sold within their communities.
We've spent years mapping the path into Indian Country: the legal frameworks, federal recognition processes, infrastructure negotiations, and financing structures required to establish tribal utilities and develop utility-scale energy assets.
Most energy developers don't understand this landscape. We do. And we bring the resources—legal, engineering, grants, financing—to walk this path with tribes from engagement through operation.
What Sets Us Apart?
Indian-Owned
SGE is owned by members of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and descendants of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe. We understand tribal governance, priorities, and the unique opportunities sovereign nations have in energy development.
The Roadmap
The path to establishing a tribal utility isn't straightforward. We've developed the roadmap—the sequence of legal, regulatory, and infrastructure steps required to form tribal utilities and develop energy assets. Other developers fumble through this process. We've already mapped it.
Full-Service Resources
We're not just advisors. SGE provides access to legal expertise, engineering resources, feasibility studies, grant navigation, and financing structures. When you engage with us, you get a complete team—not a referral list.
Community Focus
Unlike competitors who target only the largest loads (casinos, commercial facilities), SGE focuses on serving the entire tribal community. Our goal is building tribal utilities that benefit all residents, not just extracting value from peak demand.
Meet Our Founders
Jim Landsem
A proud member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa with over 30 years of experience working in Indian Country, Jim has been a pioneer in tribal business development and technology solutions. He established the first Native-owned electronic gaming company and worked with tribal gaming operations across North America. Today, his focus is guiding tribal nations through utility formation and energy development—building the infrastructure for true energy sovereignty and economic independence.
Patrick Seitz
A descendant of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe, Patrick brings decades of experience in energy systems and business development. His focus is helping tribal communities navigate the complex landscape of utility formation, infrastructure negotiation, and energy project financing. Patrick is committed to making energy sovereignty achievable—connecting tribes with the legal, engineering, and financial resources needed to own and operate their own utilities.
